Policy Explanation Meeting of China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone of the 2018 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road

On October 29, 2018, Policy Explanation Meeting of China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone of the 2018 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road was held in Boao, Hainan Province. Mr. Wang Lu , Vice Governor of Hainan Province, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Over 200 guests including journalists from domestic and overseas mainstream media and some entrepreneurs participated in the meeting upon invitation.


Mr. Wang Lu stressed the importance of the invitative of a high standard Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone and the efforts in exploring the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port with Chinese Characteristics for Hainan’s economic and social development. He briefly introduced the Overall Plan for China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone recently released by the State Council, and elaborated on the unique advantages of Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone, as well as the new opportunities Hainan will bring to countries and regions along the Belt and Road in its process of building a pilot free trade zone.


Mr. Sun Dahai, Executive Deputy Director-General of the FTZ Office of Hainan Provincial Committee of the CPC, made a detailed introduction on the Overal Plan from the aspects of guiding principles, specific content and 30 special policies given by the State Council, as well as measures for further opening up and key areas where Hainan will enjoy support from the State Council for development. Mr. Sun also shared with the audience the new programs, progress and opportunities of Hainan and extended welcome to investors from home and abroad to participate in Hainan’s economic development.


Mr. Rong Yansong, Deputy Director-General of Department of Commerce of Hainan Province, introduced Hainan’s achievements in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative with a set of figures and real cases. He also presented Hainan’s potential for development from the perspectives of ecological enviroment, industrial structure, infrastructure facilities and business environment. Mr. Rong especially explained the strong impetus Hainan’s new national mission of deepening reform and openning-up will inject to its efforts in pushing forward the Belt and Road Initiative.
