UCLA CSSA Chinese New Year Culture Night: Inspire young generation to look for faith and courage

Hosted by UCLA CSSA, the Chinese New Year Culture Night held at Royce Hall on the evening of February 16th attracted 1800 full house attendee of students, faculty and staffs from UCLA and other local universities.

It was a great cultures and spiritual fiesta for homesick international students during Lunar New Year. Also the annual greater Los Angeles area most influential Chinese culture event hosted by CSSA-UCLA.

This year’s Gala director Zoe Wang Originally from Chengdu, is a third-year UCLA English Major with a Film Minor & a Theater Minor who adores words & scenes.

She said: at the 2019 new year just started,  some of us will be graduating from UCLA at its centenary celebration, and sail into the nebulous future ahead filled with uncertainty. Perhaps, the theme of this year’s CSSA Chinese New Year Cultural Night might inspire students like me to look for faith and courage.

The theme of this year’s gala is the “Torch Fire”  which is breathtakingly compelling with its dual connotation of sublimity and vigor, It is the glow of youth, radiated from the vivaciousness of young life. It represents “hope” as it gives direction and warmth to people walking in nights and snows.

It epitomizes tradition, it symbolizes the color red and manifests China. It is the most poetic expression of enthusiasm and an ancient yet powerful demonstration of eternity.
