Former Vice President of Taiwan Wu Den-yih met with Chinese American in Los Angeles

10/2 evening Former Vice President of Taiwan Wu Den-yih met with about 700 Chinese American in Universal Hilton.

Wu Den-yih (吳敦義) arrived in the United States 9/20 on a three-week visit, during which he attended a series of meetings and activities organized by overseas Chinese and Taiwanese expatriates.

He also gave a keynote speech at the meeting.

After his tour of Los Angeles then return to Taiwan on Oct. 6.

It is Wu’s first overseas trip since he stepped as vice president down on May 20, when the new government took office.

His visit was approved by the Presidential Office on Sept. 2 based on the Classified National Security Information Protection Act and travel regulations regarding personnel involved with classified information.

Under the 2003 act, former presidents, vice presidents, premiers and government ministers with classified status are required to gain government approval for overseas travel up to three years after leaving office.
