PROMINENT LGBTQ+ RIGHTS ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS FOX’S ASSEMBLY BID

Irvine Councilwoman Melissa Fox Backed by Equality California in AD-68 Campaign

IRVINE, CA – Showcasing her strong support from the LGBTQ+ community in her run for California Assembly District 68, today Irvine Councilwoman Melissa Fox earned a critical endorsement from Equality California. Since 1998, Equality California has advanced the voices and the cause of LGBTQ+ equality, civil rights, and social justice in California. It is the largest statewide LGBTQ+ rights organization in the nation.

In a statement remarking on the endorsement, Equality California Executive Director Rick Zbur remarked:

“Every year, Equality California supports candidates who will fight for LGBTQ civil rights and social justice in their communities and in Sacramento. We are thrilled to endorse [Melissa Fox] to serve in the California Legislature. Together, we will strengthen the pro-equality supermajorities in Sacramento and continue to make California a beacon of hope for LGBTQ people everywhere.”

Councilwoman Fox reflected on the endorsement by saying:

“I am incredibly honored to have the support of California’s largest LGBTQ rights organization.  I’m running for California’s 68th Assembly District to fight for equality and justice for all in our great state, which we can only accomplish if every Californian, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, has a seat at the table. In Sacramento, I will be a bold and dedicated leader on behalf of the LGBTQ community, working to tear down barriers and build a more inclusive California, and I look forward to partnering with Equality California in that effort.”

Recently, Fox’s campaign announced that it had topped $250,000 raised for the upcoming March primary election.
