Creating a Culture of Service and Civic Engagement

NortonLifeLock is recognized as one of the 50 most community-minded companies in America

By Kim Allman | Head of Corporate Responsibility and Government Affairs

NortonLifeLock is proud to be named a 2020 honoree of The Civic 50, an initiative of Points of Light designed to identify and honor the 50 most community-minded companies in the United States. The Civic 50 provides a national standard for superior corporate citizenship and showcases how companies can use their time, skills, and resources to impact their communities.

This award comes at a time when companies and their employees are working together to drive change. At NortonLifeLock, we are building a culture which believes that everyone has a voice; that believes in treating each member of our community with respect and most of all, that is focused on doing what is right. These values form the foundation of our community engagement strategy.

Our Corporate Responsibility team’s longstanding history with NPower, a nonprofit that launches digital careers for young adults from underserved communities, is focused on creating a more diverse technology workforce. As NortonLifeLock, we’re continuing to support the Reboot Representation Tech Coalition, which is committed to doubling the number of Black, Latinx, and Native American women graduating with computing degrees by 2025. Our team also previously partnered with CSR media outlet Triple Pundit on the series “Black Lives Matter and Beyond: Corporate Leaders Respond” to support a public discussion around racial inequality in the United States.

We recently donated $100,000 to the National Urban League, a civil rights organization that serves 300 communities across 36 states. The League works to help African-Americans and other underserved urban residents secure economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights. The League has also offered us guidance on policy-making and has connected our offices to local affiliates for deeper anti-racism learning and involvement.

We realize donations and diversity commitments alone will not be enough to create meaningful change. We are committed to learning as company, to being accountable and responsive to our employees, stakeholders, and communities, and to lending our voices and actions to do better.

We are honored to be named to The Civic 50 for our continuing efforts to connect our business values to the needs of the communities where we live and work.
