Amy Coney Barrett nominated for Supreme Court by Trump

President Trump Saturday named Amy Coney Barrett to fill the Supreme Court seat left vacant by the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg as Republicans seek to lock in an even stronger right-wing majority before Election Day.

Trump introduced the conservative appeals court judge at a momentous but less-than-suspenseful White House ceremony after her selection to fill Ginsburg’s seat became the worst-kept secret in town.

“You are eminently qualified,” Trump told Barrett as scores of supporters cheered. “You are going to be a fantastic pick.”

Trump lauded Barrett as the first mother of school-aged children to serve on the top court.
