Where to see July 4th fireworks, attend events in the South Bay

Today’s the day we celebrate America’s 241st birthday. South Bay and Harbor Area residents can enjoy fireworks shows, patriotic displays and family fun throughout the region. Here’s a last look at Fourth of July events happening today:

CARSON

• L.A. Galaxy game and fireworks: The Galaxy game against Real Salt Lake starts at 7:30 p.m., followed by the 22nd annual Fourth of July postgame fireworks. The StubHub Center is located at 18400 S. Avalon Blvd. in Carson. For more information, visit www.stubhubcenter.com.

CULVER CITY

• Fireworks show: Gates will open at 4 p.m. for the city’s Fourth of July celebration, sponsored by the Exchange Club. Highlights include live music, food trucks, family-friendly midway games and a fireworks display at West Los Angeles College, 9000 Overland Ave. Cost is $5 per person up to $30 per car (five people) for parking and the festival/show. EL SEGUNDO

• Centennial Celebration finale: El Segundo’s annual Fourth of July celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. at Recreation Park, 401 E. Sheldon St. Daytime events, including a hula hoop contest, water balloon toss, pie- and watermelon-eating contests, will be held until 3 p.m. Evening events will be from 5-9 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Wristbands ($5) are required for all nighttime events and are available at all Recreation Park facilities through Monday. GARDENA

• Fourth fun and fireworks: The city of Gardena will hold its celebration from 5-10 p.m. at Rowley Park, 13220 S. Van Ness Ave. Fireworks show starts as soon as it’s dark enough. Food trucks arrive at 5 p.m. Personal fireworks will not be allowed. No pets. Call 310-217-9537 for more information.

MARINA DEL REY

• Fireworks show: Marina del Rey’s Fourth of July fireworks will be shot off a barge in the Main Channel at 9 p.m. The 20-minute show can be viewed from various spots around the waterfront, with the best areas at Burton Chace Park and Fisherman’s Village. The park is located at 13650 Mindanao Way (one block west of Admiralty Way) and Fisherman’s Village is at 13755 Fiji Way. The Marina del Rey Water Bus will operate from 11 a.m. to midnight and the Beach Shuttle will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering alternative ways to travel around the marina. PALOS VERDES ESTATES

• Old-Fashioned Fourth: The Palos Verdes Independence Day Committee will hold its 56th annual celebration at Malaga Cove School, 300 Paseo del Mar in Palos Verdes Estates. The free event starts at 9:30 a.m. and will feature an all-American pie contest, a kids bike parade and guest speakers. Go topvjuly4.org for more information.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES

• Fourth celebration: Rancho Palos Verdes’ 42nd annual event will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Upper Point Vicente Park, 30940 Hawthorne Blvd. Highlights include musical entertainment, arts and crafts, rides, games, hula hoop contests, a petting zoo and a food court. REDONDO BEACH

• Family-Friendly Fourth: Redondo Beach’s Seaside Lagoon will host Fourth of July daytime festivities, including swimming, kids arts and crafts, entertainment, and paddle board races, from 2-10 p.m. The fireworks show, visible from spots throughout the pier, harbor and beach, starts at 9 p.m. The cost is $15-$25 for those attending Seaside Lagoon, 200 Portofino Way in Redondo Beach. • Fourth of July 5K: Village Runner’s 24th Fourth of July 5K run/walk — featuring a costume contest and post-race party at Rock ‘N’ Brews — will start at 8 a.m. in Riviera Village. SAN PEDRO

• Fireworks on the Water: Sail the San Pedro Bay and watch fireworks from the deck of a tall ship. Ports O’ Call Village is located at Berth 78 in San Pedro. The event is from 7-10 p.m. The cost is $75 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under. Go to https://lamitopsail.org/activities/ for reservations.

• Community observance: The 41st annual Community Observance and Ringing of the Korean Friendship Bell ceremonies at Angels Gate Park will begin at 10 a.m. The bell will be rung 13 times, once for each of the original 13 states. The park is located at 3601 S. Gaffey St. Families are invited to stay the day and, later that evening, watch the Cabrillo Beach fireworks from Angels Gate. Admission is free.

• Fourth Spectacular: The 67th annual John Olguin July 4th Spectacular will be held from noon to 10 p.m. Families and friends can enjoy music, family activities and a food truck festival during the day, all culminating with a fireworks show at Cabrillo Beach at 9 p.m. Admission is free. TORRANCE

• Fireworks show: The city of Torrance’s 4th of July Fireworks Show will be held from 9-10 p.m. at the Torrance Civic Center. Free tickets for the Toyota Sports Complex will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Cultural Arts Center Box Office, 3330 Civic Center Drive, and at the Community Services Department Information Counter, 3031 Torrance Blvd. Toyota Sports Complex gates open at 7 p.m. Go to TorranceCA.Gov/Fireworks for more information about viewing locations, a map of the area and road closures. • Fourth of July Parade: The 18th annual event, sponsored by the LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce, is themed “An American Adventure,” and will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Loyola Boulevard, beginning at Westchester Park and traveling north to Loyola Marymount University.
