Chinese President Xi Jinping said he believed U.S. President Donald Trump’s state visit to China would achieve “positive and important” results.[Special coverage]

Xi made the remarks while touring with Trump to the Palace Museum, or the Forbidden City, as the U.S. president started his visit in Beijing on Wednesday.

During the tour of the ancient palace, they visited Taihedian, Zhonghedian and Baohedian, the three main halls of the Forbidden City.

Trump begins state visit to China

U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Beijing Wednesday afternoon, beginning his three-day state visit to China.

It is Trump’s first visit to the country since he assumed the presidency in January. He is the first head of state to visit China since the landmark 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
