MIKE ENG RECEIVES MAJOR ENDORSEMENTS OF INTERNATIONAL LONGSHORE WORKERS UNIONS (ILWU)

EL MONTE, CA — Former Assemblymember and Educator Mike Eng today won an additional major endorsement in his race for the 22nd State Senate District, this time that of International Longshore Workers Union (ILWU) Locals 13, 63, & 94.

“We support Mike Eng for State Senate because he has always supported working families. He hasn’t just talked the talk, he has walked the walk,” stated Mark Mendoza, President of ILWU Local 13. “We know we can count on him to stand side-by-side with us in the fight for fair wages, safe working conditions and secure retirements.”

Moved by the news of the endorsement, Eng commented “It is truly humbling that such a broad coalition of public servants trusts me to represent their members and families in the Legislature. The men and women who make up the International Longshore Workers Unions get up every day and work to make Californians’ lives better at every level of state, regional, and local government. I look forward to keeping their trust and doing the same as the next State Senator for the 22nd District.”

Mike also has earned the support of dozens of unions including the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California, five law enforcement organizations including the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs and PORAC, and all of the best known District leaders including incumbent Senator Ed Hernandez, Supervisors Hilda Solis and Kathryn Barger, Congressmembers Judy Chu and Grace Napolitano and Assemblymember Ed Chau.

Mike Eng previously served in the State Assembly, on the L.A. Community College District Board of Trustees, and on the Monterey Park City Council.
