REP. LIEU CELEBRATES GREEN LINE EXPANSION TO CONNECT MORE COMMUNITIES IN LOS ANGELES

May 30, 2018 LOS ANGELES – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after Governor Jerry Brown announced the expansion of the Metro Green Line.  The Green Line project will extend the subway system from Redondo Beach to the new Regional Transit Center in Torrance. In April, Rep. Lieu sent a letter to Governor Brown in support of this project and funding for expanded public transportation systems throughout Los Angeles County.

“Today we can celebrate what is truly a win for South Bay and Los Angeles County residents, businesses and visitors. The Green Line expansion project has the capability of connecting and transforming our community and I’m proud to have supported it from the beginning. As our region continues to grow, it is even more critical that we invest in public transportation to reduce traffic congestion and ease travel for residents and visitors alike. Last term I was proud to help fight for and secure full phase one funding from the federal government for MTA’s light rail and subway expansion. By connecting people in an efficient and responsible way, we’re bringing more business to more areas in our community. It’s an all-around triumph for our communities.”
