Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station breaks ground

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Santa Clarita broke ground on the much-needed and long-anticipated new Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The Los Angeles County supervisor Kathryn Barger said: As an employee of Los Angeles County for three decades, I have seen this project progress from a dream to reality. The SCV’s population is six times larger than it was when the current station was built in the 1970s, and our team of deputies has far outgrown their work space.

I am always committed to equipping our first responders with the tools they need. We cannot keep our communities and neighborhoods safe if we are not building the facilities and providing the resources our public safety officials need to do their job in a timely and effective manner. Our Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is among the best in the nation and I am proud that this group can support them in any way we can.”

The current station is on Magic Mountain Parkway and was constructed in 1972. It takes up about 25,000 square feet and is home to more than 200 deputies.

The new location will be double the size of the previous station. It will include a heliport, jail, 911 dispatch center, more parking spots, and a 4,000-square-foot vehicle maintenance facility for on-site vehicle repairs.
