{"id":18217,"date":"2019-07-11T23:11:55","date_gmt":"2019-07-12T06:11:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=18217"},"modified":"2019-07-11T23:11:55","modified_gmt":"2019-07-12T06:11:55","slug":"dow-closed-above-27000-for-the-first-time-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=18217","title":{"rendered":"Dow closed above 27,000 for the first time ever"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<a class=\"\" tabindex=\"\" title=\"\" role=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/?symbol=.DJI\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-type=\"\" aria-label=\"\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0rallied to a record high on Thursday, led by UnitedHealth shares, after testimony by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell this week that signaled easier monetary policy could be implemented later this month.<\/p>\n<p>The 30-stock average broke above 27,000 for the first time in its history, rising 227.88 points, or 0.9% to 27,088.08. The Dow first closed above 26,000 in January of 2018, so it\u2019s been a little more than a year-and-half trek between 1,000 point moves. The gains were largely driven by expectations the Fed will cut rates, insulating the market from a slowing economy and a trade battle with China.<\/p>\n<div class=\"BoxInline-container  \">\n<div id=\"BoxInline-ArticleBody-6\" class=\"BoxInline-container\" data-module=\"mps-slot\">Microsoft has been the best-performing Dow stock since the <a class=\"\" tabindex=\"\" title=\"\" role=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/07\/11\/these-are-the-stocks-that-have-powered-the-dows-rally-to-27000.html\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-type=\"\" aria-label=\"\">index\u2019s first close above 26,000<\/a>, surging around 50% in that time.
