{"id":23294,"date":"2020-04-03T17:23:14","date_gmt":"2020-04-04T00:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=23294"},"modified":"2020-04-03T17:23:14","modified_gmt":"2020-04-04T00:23:14","slug":"twitter-takes-down-20000-fake-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=23294","title":{"rendered":"Twitter takes down 20,000 fake accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter removed 20,000 fake accounts tied to the governments of several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Serbia, for violating company policy.<\/p>\n<p>Government-linked accounts of Honduras and Indonesia were also removed after Twitter determined the posts from all five governments were an &#8220;attempt to undermine the public conversation,&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/srplwzjfpbbtgzgbtcmpptllpjthbjbddkpfzshlcbjmc_ufqhnnwqwshnmncnpcmh.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/srplwzjfpbbtgzgbtcmpptllpjthbjbddkpfzshlcbjmc_ufqhnnwqwshnmncnpcmh.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1586044991619000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHHM5gK3SlFTzwL-CGtx8WItDEnCQ\">according to The Guardian.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yoel Roth, head of Twitter&#8217;s site integrity, told The Guardian the removed accounts were demonstrative of the company&#8217;s efforts to &#8220;work to detect and investigate state-backed information operations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The removals included 8,558 accounts linked to the Serbian Progressive party of the country&#8217;s president, Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107.
