{"id":24379,"date":"2020-05-04T15:45:17","date_gmt":"2020-05-04T22:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=24379"},"modified":"2020-05-04T15:45:17","modified_gmt":"2020-05-04T22:45:17","slug":"amazon-vp-resigns-in-protest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=24379","title":{"rendered":"Amazon VP resigns in protest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tim Bray, a vice president and senior engineer at Amazon Web Services, has resigned over the firings of activist workers at the online retail giant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemaining an Amazon VP would have meant, in effect, signing off on actions I despised,\u201d Bray\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/uqnmvzybchhsjzjhsgnccsmmcyskhyhddfcbzpkmfcmwg_rggcggnrnpcgwwvrtglk.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/uqnmvzybchhsjzjhsgnccsmmcyskhyhddfcbzpkmfcmwg_rggcggnrnpcgwwvrtglk.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1588714345836000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHG0KnTIgvC8JLcw1AqnNhEUyx-pA\">wrote in a blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I resigned.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Amazon has fired several employees that have protested the workplace conditions at warehouses amid the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Bray wrote that the &#8220;victims weren\u2019t abstract entities but real people; here are some of their names: Courtney Bowden, Gerald Bryson, Maren Costa, Emily Cunningham, Bashir Mohammed, and Chris Smalls.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Smalls&#8217;s was the first high-profile dismissal during the pandemic.
