In celebration of\u00a0Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month<\/a>, Cox is shining a spotlight on some of the employees who make up our diverse company culture.<\/p>\n

The AAPI community is made up of\u00a0people from\u00a0many ethnic groups with diverse backgrounds, histories, languages and cultures.\u00a0People like\u00a0Daisy\u00a0Kuo,\u00a0a\u00a0Chinese-American\u00a0woman who works at Cox Enterprises as\u00a0an\u00a0advisory\u00a0and\u00a0assurance\u00a0manager\u00a0for Audit Services. In this Q&A, Daisy\u00a0talks\u00a0about her\u00a0upbringing as a child of first-generation immigrants\u00a0and\u00a0shares\u00a0her excitement about passing along traditions\u00a0to\u00a0her young daughter.<\/p>\n

Q:\u00a0Tell us about what you do\u00a0at Cox.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A: I have been with Cox for four years and\u00a0my job is to help provide independent and objective assurance and advisory services to improve the company\u2019s processes from a financial, operational and compliance perspective.<\/p>\n

Q: Tell\u00a0us\u00a0a little bit about how you were raised. How did your Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage play into your family traditions and beliefs?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:\u00a0I grew up in a big\u00a0Chinese-American\u00a0family as one of four children. With immigrant parents, my siblings and I served many roles at home to help our parents become better acclimated in\u00a0this country. It was not uncommon for me and my siblings to read important pieces of mail or translate phone calls for my parents. Because of this, we naturally had a strong family bond together.<\/p>\n

Looking back, my family worked as a great team! I think this is a reason why I love working for Cox \u2013 my team and I work together as a family and the company overall has such strong family-oriented values that I strongly resonate with.<\/p>\n

Q: How do you keep those traditions and beliefs alive?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A: As a new mother, I hope to keep my family traditions and beliefs and modify and even improve upon them for today\u2019s work\/life demands. I\u2019m in constant dialogue with my husband on what kind of life we want for our daughter, and I\u2019m excited for what the future can bring for her.<\/p>\n

Q: What do you think is the greatest need in the Asian American Pacific Islander community \u2013 and how can others help?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:\u00a0One need is to continue increasing awareness of the resources (such as Lotus, Cox\u2019s new employee resource group)\u00a0available\u00a0to my colleagues to help them be even more successful in their careers. I\u2019ve taken part in other opportunities designed to help ensure that the AAPI community can continue to be a part of\u00a0Cox\u2019s growth and success.<\/p>\n
