Maya Wiley<\/strong>
\nCivil Rights Activist
\nSenior Vice President for Social Justice at The New School<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maya Wiley is a nationally renowned expert on racial justice and equity. She has litigated, lobbied the U.S. Congress, and developed programs to transform structural racism in the U.S. and in South Africa. Ms. Wiley is currently a University Professor at the New School University. She previously served as the Senior Vice President for Social Justice at the New School University and the Henry Cohen Professor of Public and Urban Policy at The New School\u2019s Milano School of Management, Policy & Environment. She is an expert on Digital Equity and founded and Co-Directs the New School\u2019s Digital Equity Laboratory. Ms. Wiley is also a Legal Analyst for NBC News and MSNBC.<\/p>\n

Prior to the New School she was Counsel to New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio. As the Mayor\u2019s chief legal advisor and a member of his Senior Cabinet, Ms. Wiley was placed at the helm of the Mayor\u2019s commitment to expanding affordable broadband access across New York City, advancing civil and human rights and gender equity, and increasing the effectiveness of the City’s support for Minority\/Women Owned Business Enterprises. She also served as the Mayor’s liaison to the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary.<\/p>\n

Among her awards, in 2018 and 2019, Ms. Wiley was been named one of the world\u2019s top 100 leaders in Digital Government by Apolitical. In 2017 Good Housekeeping Magazine honored Ms. Wiley as one of its \u201c50 over 50.\u201d City and State Magazine named Ms. Wiley one of the 100 most powerful people in New York City in 2014 and in 2015. Named one of 20 Leading Black Women Social Activists Advocating Change by The Root in 2011. She was also honored as a Moves Magazine Power Woman in 2009.<\/p>\n

Ms. Wiley holds a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and a B.A in psychology from Dartmouth College.<\/p>\n

Stewart Kwoh\u00a0<\/strong>
\nFounder, Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Los Angeles
\nMember, Committee of 100<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stewart Kwoh was the founding President and Executive Director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice \u2013 Los Angeles (Advancing Justice \u2013 LA). Kwoh is a nationally recognized leader and expert in race relations, Asian American studies, nonprofit organizations and philanthropies, civil rights, and legal services. He was named a MacArthur Foundation Fellow in 1998, becoming the first Asian American attorney and community leader to receive this highly prestigious recognition, often referred to as the \u201cgenius grant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kwoh earned his bachelor\u2019s degree from University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law. He teaches at the university\u2019s Asian American Studies Department, and has been an instructor at UCLA School of Law. He is a past expert in residence at UC Berkeley School of Law, and has two honorary doctorates from Williams College and Suffolk School of Law.<\/p>\n

In 1983, Kwoh co-founded Advancing Justice \u2013 LA now, the nation\u2019s largest Asian American legal and civil rights organization that serves more than 15,000 individuals and organizations every year. Advancing Justice \u2013 LA\u2019s mission is to advocate for civil rights, provide legal services and education, and build coalitions to positively influence and impact Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (NHPI) and to create a more equitable and harmonious society. Advancing Justice \u2013 LA has a diverse and multilingual staff, as well as a broad-based board of directors that includes law firm partners, corporate executives, and nonprofit community leaders. The organization provides direct services to individual clients; engages in policy advocacy, research and analysis; litigates impact lawsuits; and provides social change-based leadership training. The organization has successfully challenged garment sweatshops, English-only workplace policies, racially discriminatory employment practices and unfair immigration laws as well as advocated for stronger protections for low-wage workers, limited English speaking immigrants, and hate crime victims.<\/p>\n

Under Kwoh\u2019s leadership, Advancing Justice \u2013 LA became a leading advocate for Asian American and NHPI communities while working to build bridges with African American, Latino, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. Kwoh founded Advancing Justice \u2013 LA\u2019s Leadership Development in Interethnic Relations (LDIR) program, which has trained more than 1,000 community leaders and activists in the past decade.<\/p>\n

Zhengyu Huang<\/strong>

Zheng was born in Shanghai, China and came to the US at the age of ten. Zheng was educated at Stanford University, with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, B.A. in Economics, and M.S. in Computer Science. He also earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. After graduation, Zheng worked at Intel Corporation and rose to Managing Director and then served under President Obama as a White House Fellow and special assistant to the Administrator for US Agency for International Aid. Thereafter, he started a financial service data firm that grew to 300 staff and 7 offices. He was\u00a0most recently the Chairman of an education focused investment firm. He is the author of three books published in China that sold over 250,000 copies. He has lived in five countries, including the US, Germany, Japan, India, and China and traveled to over 80 countries.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
