cryptocurrency case, a U.S. prosecutor said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco U.S. Attorney David Anderson said at a press conference that Abramoff was charged with a criminal conspiracy to make false and misleading statements to potential buyers of cryptocurrency,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/tpwjsdwfpllktdtlkbvppkjjpwkrlwlggcpfdmrplpzph_jjvbvvjrjwbvnjbrmvnt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/tpwjsdwfpllktdtlkbvppkjjpwkrlwlggcpfdmrplpzph_jjvbvvjrjwbvnjbrmvnt.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1593289087916000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFMVqWKeI_yFVIIeQSQdK2kcj0W_w\">Bloomberg News reported<\/a>.\u00a0<span class=\"il\">The<\/span>\u00a0prosecutor said Abramoff agreed to plead guilty and could face up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/gmcnsjwqmccdfjfcdkrmmdnnmwdpcwchhtmqjlpmcmymk_jjvbvvjrjwbvnjbrmvnt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/gmcnsjwqmccdfjfcdkrmmdnnmwdpcwchhtmqjlpmcmymk_jjvbvvjrjwbvnjbrmvnt.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1593289087916000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFT-ZRnNDsd5c48kjOy8bO5fFmL9w\">In a separate suit<\/a>,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission sued Abramoff, asserting he participated in a fraudulent and unregistered offer and sale of digital asset securities.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">The<\/span>\u00a0SEC claims\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0sale occurred through NAC Foundation, a company that was creating a blockchain-based digital token called AML BitCoin, which\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0defendants claimed was \u201ca new and improved version of bitcoin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">The<\/span>\u00a0chief executive of\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0NAC Foundation,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/kphfwbtkplljzbzljrvppjffptjqltlggspkbdqplphpv_jjvbvvjrjwbvnjbrmvnt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/kphfwbtkplljzbzljrvppjffptjqltlggspkbdqplphpv_jjvbvvjrjwbvnjbrmvnt.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1593289087916000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGd_rDX8iA51KDQnPaq7EQZkj8obw\">Rowland Marcus Andrade<\/a>, was also\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/qdshyjnqdmmtcjcmtvgddthhdntrmnmbbfdqjprdmdwdf_jjvbvvjrjwbvnjbrmvnt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/qdshyjnqdmmtcjcmtvgddthhdntrmnmbbfdqjprdmdwdf_jjvbvvjrjwbvnjbrmvnt.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1593289087916000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEh18y2gedDU-Bi9L1W9WK5kCrSoQ\">indicted this week<\/a>\u00a0and will plead not guilty to his charges, Anderson said.\u00a0<span class=\"il\">The<\/span>\u00a0SEC said Andrade allegedly raised at least $5.6 million from more than 2,400 investors by selling tokens to later be transferred to AML BitCoin.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">The<\/span>\u00a0commission also alleged both men claimed they were on\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0verge of advertising AML BitCoin during\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0SuperBowl, but\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0foundation couldn\u2019t afford
