{"id":29557,"date":"2020-11-30T17:07:59","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T01:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=29557"},"modified":"2020-11-30T17:07:59","modified_gmt":"2020-12-01T01:07:59","slug":"italy-fines-apple-12-million-over-claims-about-waterproof-iphones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=29557","title":{"rendered":"Italy fines Apple $12 million over claims about waterproof iPhones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Italy\u2019s antitrust agency on Monday announced that it had fined Apple roughly $12 million for deceptive marketing about its iPhones.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Competition Authority, or AGCM, said that Apple had advertised the iPhone 8 through iPhone 11 as being waterproof without making clear that that was only the case under specific conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Apple\u2019s disclaimer that phones were not covered for liquid damage tricked consumers, the agency said.<\/p>\n<p>Apple allegedly refused to provide support when phones were damaged by water.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Apple declined to comment on the fine. The company has 60 days from the day it was notified of the fine to appeal the decision.<\/p>\n<p>Apple has faced tougher enforcement from European agencies than their American counterparts.
