{"id":29693,"date":"2020-12-03T16:16:55","date_gmt":"2020-12-04T00:16:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=29693"},"modified":"2020-12-03T16:16:55","modified_gmt":"2020-12-04T00:16:55","slug":"facebook-faces-doj-suit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=29693","title":{"rendered":"FACEBOOK FACES DOJ SUIT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Trump administration is suing Facebook over allegations that the tech giant discriminated against U.S. workers by creating recruitment processes that favored temporary visa holders, <a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/chpqvkhrmttfskstfgcmmfqqmhfzthtnnlmrkjzthcgqmp_qvnmggswstmfnpnspfvh.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/chpqvkhrmttfskstfgcmmfqqmhfzthtnnlmrkjzthcgqmp_qvnmggswstmfnpnspfvh.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1607124084650000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGcGGQgcGbKXwlF0eCqo9m-ANLIWA\">according to a complaint<\/a>\u00a0filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint alleges that Facebook created a separate hiring process for certain temporary immigration status holders, such as H-1B visa holders, and alleges Facebook did not consider U.S. workers for more than 2,600 positions with an average salary of about $156,000.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint is the Trump administration\u2019s latest action targeting a big tech company.<\/p>\n<p>It follows a nearly two-year investigation and targets hiring practices between Jan. 1, 2018, and Sept. 18, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur message to workers is clear: if companies deny employment opportunities by illegally preferring temporary visa holders, the Department of Justice will hold them accountable. Our message to all employers \u2014 including those in the technology sector \u2014 is clear: you cannot illegally prefer to recruit, consider, or hire temporary visa holders over U.S. workers,\u201d\u00a0 Assistant Attorney General Eric S.
