By using exclusionary agreements to dominate the market, Google has stifled competition and rigged the advertising market,\u201d Becerra\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/alpsrvbzlmmncvcmnyhllnsslbngmbmwwplzvtgmbpmphs_gntcrrgygdctwllylgln.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/alpsrvbzlmmncvcmnyhllnsslbngmbmwwplzvtgmbpmphs_gntcrrgygdctwllylgln.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1608240302187000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEnthVy31xHyjtdONbbPRSLnMwrww\">said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis lawsuit paves the way for search engine innovation with greater regard for privacy and data protection,\u201d Becerra added.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department filed its lawsuit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/ucnmvzybchhsjzjhsgnccsmmcyskhyhddfcbzpkhyfhfnc_gntcrrgygdctwllylgln.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/ucnmvzybchhsjzjhsgnccsmmcyskhyhddfcbzpkhyfhfnc_gntcrrgygdctwllylgln.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1608240302187000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFhWj4VlQa3IzhaKQnoVSdAsotbxg\">against the tech giant<\/a>\u00a0in October, and was joined by 11 Republican state attorneys general at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit alleges Google entered into exclusionary contracts with phone makers to preload Google\u2019s search engine onto devices using Alphabet\u2019s Android operating system.
