Residents who have been impacted by the Bobcat Wildfire now have just\u00a0two days\u00a0<\/strong>left to register for financial support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The deadline to register for FEMA financial assistance is December 16, 2020.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe strongly encourage anyone who suffered a loss due to the Bobcat Fire to register for assistance from FEMA,\u201d stated Kevin McGowan, Director of the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management. \u201cDuring this holiday season, many individuals are feeling a big financial strain. Eligible Bobcat wildfire survivors can use FEMA\u2019s financial support to help pay for needs such as rent, home repairs, medical costs and other disaster-related expenses.\u00a0 Every bit of support helps and we want to make sure eligible LA County wildfire survivors get all the support that is available to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Survivors should contact their insurers and file a claim for the disaster-caused damage\u00a0before\u00a0<\/strong>they register with FEMA. Additionally, survivors should photograph damage and save repair receipts. Eligibility is determined once an applicant\u2019s insurance claim is settled. If residents have insurance but are not sure whether they will be eligible for monetary assistance, they should still register with FEMA.<\/p>\n

Residents who fail to register by the December 16, 2020 deadline will not be eligible to receive FEMA reimbursement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wildfire survivors can register with FEMA for federal aid in one of three ways:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Online at\u00a0DisasterAssistance.gov;<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. By downloading the FEMA app to a smartphone or tablet; or<\/li>\n
  3. By calling the\u00a0FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362\u00a0<\/strong>(TTY 800-462-7585) 7 a.m.-10 a.m. PST.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If residents use a relay service such as a videophone, Innocaption or CapTel, they should provide FEMA with the specific number assigned to that service when they register.<\/p>\n

    When registering for FEMA assistance, residents should be prepared to provide their personal information, including Social Security number, insurance policy information and a description of the damages or losses suffered due to the Bobcat wildfire.<\/p>\n
