{"id":32225,"date":"2021-03-01T19:30:47","date_gmt":"2021-03-02T03:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=32225"},"modified":"2021-03-01T19:30:47","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T03:30:47","slug":"trouble-in-technology-paradise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=32225","title":{"rendered":"TROUBLE IN TECHNOLOGY PARADISE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government is &#8220;unprepared&#8221; to defend the nation against new threats posed by the increased adoption of artificial intelligence technologies, according to a report released Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/pvmdwrftvhhbgrghbymvvbddvfbkhfhsslvtrckhhhdccj_slsbmmvrvtbkbckcjcsr.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/pvmdwrftvhhbgrghbymvvbddvfbkhfhsslvtrckhhhdccj_slsbmmvrvtbkbckcjcsr.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1614730169936000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGslNbt70qNgkP6KoBd9wugjlIWVg\">report<\/a>, compiled by the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence, recommended the U.S. implement a \u201csignificant change\u201d to keep up with countries like China and Russia in the field of AI to address national security concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe United States must act now to field AI systems and invest substantially more resources in AI innovation to protect its security, promote its prosperity, and safeguard the future of democracy,\u201d the commission concluded.<\/p>\n<p>The commission was established as part of the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act, with the majority of its members appointed by Congress.
