{"id":33156,"date":"2021-03-22T13:07:08","date_gmt":"2021-03-22T20:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=33156"},"modified":"2021-03-22T13:07:08","modified_gmt":"2021-03-22T20:07:08","slug":"renewal-of-the-charter-for-the-u-s-advisory-commission-on-public-diplomacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=33156","title":{"rendered":"Renewal of the Charter for the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>03\/22\/2021 02:49 PM EDT<\/div>\n<p>Office of the Spokesperson<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Department of State has renewed the Charter for the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy (ACPD). \u00a0For more than 70 years, the ACPD has appraised U.S. government activities intended to understand, inform, and influence foreign publics and has\u00a0aimed to increase the understanding of and support for these activities.\u00a0 The Commission conducts research and symposia that provide honest assessments and informed discourse on public diplomacy efforts across the U.S. government,\u00a0and it disseminates findings through reports, white papers, and other publications.\u00a0 It reports to the President, Secretary of State, and Congress.\u00a0 The Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs\u2019 Office of Policy, Planning, and Resources (R\/PPR) provides administrative support for the ACPD.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission consists of seven members appointed by the President, with the advice and consent of the Senate. \u00a0The members of the Commission represent the public interest and are selected from a cross section of educational, communications, cultural, scientific, technical, public service, labor, business, and professional backgrounds. \u00a0By statute, no more than four members may be from any one political party. \u00a0The President designates a member to chair the Commission.<\/p>\n<p>The current members of the Commission are: Mr. Sim Farar of California, Chair; Mr. William Hybl of Colorado, Vice-Chair; and Ms. Anne Terman Wedner of Florida. \u00a0Four seats on the Commission currently are vacant.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>03\/22\/2021 02:49 PM EDT Office of&#46;&#46;&#46;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7,5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-33156","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-u-s-a","category-world"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/33156","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=33156"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/33156\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":33157,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/33156\/revisions\/33157"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=33156"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=33156"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=33156"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
