{"id":33505,"date":"2021-03-31T18:44:08","date_gmt":"2021-04-01T01:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=33505"},"modified":"2021-06-29T09:41:44","modified_gmt":"2021-06-29T16:41:44","slug":"battle-rages-over-vaccine-passports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=33505","title":{"rendered":"Battle rages over vaccine passports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Republicans are up in arms over the possibility that businesses and local governments may require vaccine passports for people to get access to certain activities, buildings or events.<\/p>\n<p>The pushback comes after New York last week launched its virtual Excelsior Pass, created in partnership with IBM, that allows people to show if they have been vaccinated by flashing a QR code to get into events where proof is required.<\/p>\n<p>Other governors, including Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D), signaled they may launch similar programs soon, and IBM said it is in talks with federal officials and just about every state.<\/p>\n<p>But Florida Gov.\u00a0Ron DeSantis\u00a0(R) has urged his state\u2019s GOP-controlled legislature to pass a law forbidding passes showing proof of coronavirus vaccination, while vowing to take executive action.
