The study is now including children ages 12 to 17.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The goal:<\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on adolescents, not just with the complications of the disease, but with their education, mental health, and wellbeing,\u201d Paul Stoffels, the company&#8217;s chief scientific officer, said in a statement. \u201cIt is vital that we develop vaccines for everyone, everywhere, to help combat the spread of the virus with the goal to return to everyday life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next steps:<\/strong>\u00a0The vaccine will initially be tested in a small number of adolescents ages 16 and 17.
