{"id":34181,"date":"2021-04-19T19:17:42","date_gmt":"2021-04-20T02:17:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=34181"},"modified":"2021-04-19T19:17:42","modified_gmt":"2021-04-20T02:17:42","slug":"dhss-clearview-problem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=34181","title":{"rendered":"DHS\u2019S CLEARVIEW PROBLEM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pressure is mounting on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to discontinue \u2014 or at least clarify \u2014 its relationship with Clearview AI, a controversial facial recognition company best known for scraping billions of images of people from social media sites.<\/p>\n<p>A coalition of nearly 70 immigrant rights, civil liberties and privacy groups called on the agency to \u201cimmediately stop\u201d using the company\u2019s technology in a letter sent to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Monday that was first shared with The Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Clearview AI provides software that can identify and provide information about individuals using images of their faces.
