{"id":34348,"date":"2021-04-22T19:10:05","date_gmt":"2021-04-23T02:10:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=34348"},"modified":"2021-04-22T19:10:05","modified_gmt":"2021-04-23T02:10:05","slug":"almost-one-third-of-health-care-workers-thought-about-leaving-jobs-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=34348","title":{"rendered":"Almost one-third of health care workers thought about leaving jobs: poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost one-third of health care workers considered leaving their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/tzzjsdwfpllktdtlkbvppkjjpwkrlwlggcpfdmrllczbmw_mbccnnyqylcdcpcqspny.html?a=&amp;b=38570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/tzzjsdwfpllktdtlkbvppkjjpwkrlwlggcpfdmrllczbmw_mbccnnyqylcdcpcqspny.html?a%3D%26b%3D38570&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1619218527878000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFEmapU-d85ww0fOFJKIfJRSx-0QA\">Washington Post-Kaiser Family Foundation poll<\/a>\u00a0released Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-nine percent of health care workers said they \u201cconsidered no longer working in health care,\u201d while 71 percent said they never thought about changing their careers.<\/p>\n<p>The survey underscores the strain health care workers have been under since the start of the pandemic. Fifty-five percent of the workers said they felt \u201cburned out,\u201d 62 percent said the pandemic had a negative impact on their mental health and 47 percent said they either had trouble sleeping or are sleeping too much as a result of the stress.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about major sources of stress, 81 percent of health care workers said they were concerned about being exposed to the coronavirus at work, and 79 percent said they were concerned about exposing others in their households to the virus.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the survey, conducted Feb. 11-March 7, health care workers had received far more vaccinations proportionally than the general population.
