29 New Deaths and 500 New Positive Cases of Confirmed COVID-19 in Los Angeles County<\/em><\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/h1>\n

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) has confirmed 29 new deaths and 500 new cases of COVID-19.\u00a0Of the 29 new deaths reported today, 11 people that passed away were over the age of 80, eight people who died were between the ages of 65 and 79, five people who died were between the ages of 50 and 64, and three people who died was between the ages of 30 and 49. Two deaths were reported by the City of Pasadena.<\/p>\n

\n

To date, Public Health identified 1,233,488 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 23,918 deaths.<\/p>\n

\n

There are 414 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 21% of these people are in the ICU. Testing results are available for more than 6,502,000 individuals with 18% of people testing positive.\u00a0 Today’s daily test positivity rate is 0.6%. The County’s test positivity remains at the lowest levels of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\n

To date, Public Health has identified 7,103 COVID-19 cases among people experiencing homelessness. Since the peak of 684 weekly cases reported during late-December, case numbers among people experiencing homelessness substantially dropped to 59 new cases reported this week. The number of new cases reported this week includes 51 cases from previous weeks that were newly identified as cases associated with people experiencing homelessness and were included in the new case totals. To date, a total of 206 people who were experiencing homelessness have passed away from COVID-19. Of the people experiencing homelessness who passed away, 93 were sheltered, 68 were unsheltered, and for 45 people who passed away, their shelter status was unknown.<\/p>\n

\n

There are 122 providers reporting they are administering vaccinations to people experiencing homelessness. Currently, 19,854 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to people experiencing homelessness across Los Angeles County. Of those vaccinated, at least 2,838 people received second doses. The County continues working with partner organizations to vaccinate and protect people experiencing homelessness from COVID-19 infection.<\/p>\n

County is easier and more accessible than ever before and we encourage everyone waiting to get vaccinated to take advantage of the opportunity as soon as possible. There continues to be much higher risk of COVID-19 transmission among unvaccinated people. As more L.A. County residents and workers are vaccinated, the risk of transmission of variants is significantly reduced and we get back to the many activities that we loved to do before the pandemic.”<\/p>\n

COVID-19 vaccinations are available without appointments at all of County sites through next week. Everyone 16 and older living or working in L.A. County can walk-in and get vaccinated. You should bring a photo ID with you and teens 16 and 17 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.<\/p>\n
