The 14th \u201cTop Ten Outstanding Chinese American Youth Awards\u201d selection hosted by the All America Chinese Youth Federation, the American Chinese Public Diplomacy Association, and the \u201cLos Angeles Post\u201d were officially announced honorees on May 4, 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme of this year\u2019s selection is: \u201cProud of Being Chinese\u201d. It is hoped that the selection will bring upward strength to the Chinese youth and communities in the States.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the selection committee: “These honorees are outstanding representatives of the millions of Chinese youth and Chinese international students in the States. Their efforts to work hard and grow up will certainly be the driving force for inspiring young friends. Their characters and achievements show the qualities of contemporary Chinese youth leaders and future communities leaders.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The selection of the Top Ten Outstanding Youth Award has become one of the most popular and influential event of Chinese communities during the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month of May each year, showing the outstanding style and brand-new image of the young generation of Chinese.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hailed by The\u00a0New York Concert Reviews, “a percussionist of sovereign technical mastery.” Mr. Zhong is the Chief editor of Percussion Arts Society(China), founder of RQ Music Entertainment, president of Huamei Art School, and music director of New York Big Apple Modern Festival. In 2019, Mr. Zhong was selected as “Top 30 under 30” by the All American Chinese Youth Federation. As a diverse percussionist, composer, leader, and educator, Mr. Zhong constitutes a new image of Chinese musicians.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a stage performer, Mr.Zhong began to perform at the age of three. He performed many times on behalf of the Ministry of Culture of China and served as the leading performer in the piece – “Fun Drum.” At the age of nine, Mr.Zhong was picked by several film directors and started starring in TV series and reality shows as a child actor. At the age of ten, Mr.Zhong has continually toured worldwide. The performing style ranges from solo, contemporary, jazz, classical, pop, and broadway music. Today, Mr. Zhong’s solo performances have appeared on all five continents.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a composer, Mr.Zhong premiered his first composition, The Drum Moves the Heart, at the International Chinese Arts Festival in 2009. The newest music works are Wukong, a piece for Bangu and electronics music; Egg fried rice, a piece for Vocaloid and snare drum solo; Up Kinds as Water, a piece for hand gestures, electronic music(Lu Wang), and Machine learning(Yiyao Nie). As an educator, Mr. Zhong published his book series, Rhythm Master – basic rhythm training, in 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Zhong has been a prize winner and finalists in several competitions, including the 2015 Modern Snare Drum Competition(Fourth Prize), the 2013 PAS KoSA Marimba Competition(First Prize), the 2011 International Chinese Marimba Competition(First Prize), the 2008 Jiangsu Province “Music Cup” Competition (Second Prize), and the 2007 Beijing Folk Music Competition (Sunshine Award).<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr.Zhong studied at Yale School of Music, The Curtis Institute of Music, The Juilliard Pre-College, and the middle school of China conservatory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Qin Ya Jenny Guo is an Emmy award-winning film creative producer, XR and NFT art Collector, and tech entrepreneur. She has been named on Forbes 30 under 30 in 2018 and AACYF 30 under 30 in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

Backed by HTC ViveX and TechStars, her company LumiereVR is using computer vision and mixed reality to revolutionize the retail industry. The VR projects she had worked on have also won multiple awards in both Asia and the U.S. She has produced and distributed multiple VR art installations, including renowned artist Rachel Maclean\u2019s I\u2019m Terribly Sorry <\/em>with KWM Art Center, Wang Xin\u2019s Maybe it\u2019s Time to Refresh the Art World a Little Bit at K11 art mall in Hong Kong, and Tian Zhuo Chen’s Trance.<\/em> Her producing work Living Distance<\/em> with artist Xin Liu has been selected into multiple renowned film festivals, including Sundance, SXSW, Beijing Film Festival, and it\u2019s the first Chinese immersive project that Sundance New Frontier Lab has taken on. Her latest VR artwork Devil’s Ivy with artist Liu Wa is currently showing at Busan Biennale and Sandbox Immersive Festival.\u00a0 \u00a0This film has won the young creative award from International Emmy awards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ms. Guo double majored in Electronic Art and Political Studies at Bard College and later studied Creative Producing at Columbia University.\u00a0 Ms. Guo had extensive experience in auction houses and art dealing between China and the U.S.\u00a0 \u00a0 Ms. Guo is also a Sundance fellow and researcher at Harvard Visualization Lab.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ms. Guo has spoken at multiple conferences including Harvard Graduate School of Design, SXSW, Wharton School of Business, J.P Morgan, TEDxBohaibay, and Christie\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Enhao Gong is a pioneer in the medical imaging and healthcare AI industry. He is leveraging cutting-edge AI and Deep Learning technologies to deliver real values to patients, clinicians and hospitals. As a serial-entrepreneur and researcher, he graduated in Biomedical Engineering from Tsinghua in 2012 and finished PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford in 2017. His doctoral research focus is around applying AI\/Deep Learning to improve medical imaging technologies. He demonstrated that AI can significantly boost the quality, efficiency and safety of radiology exams, which possibly fundamentally changes the approaches of early diagnosis and better treatment for diseases such as cancers and Alzheimers\u2019 Disease. His research works have been frequently featured and awarded by top academic and clinical societies. Dr. Enhao Gong has won several personal awards and recognition, including RSNA Research Award and Forbes China and Asia Pacific “30 under 30″, AACYF \u201cTop 30 under 30” in 2019. <\/span><\/p>\n

As the founder and CEO Subtle Medical, a healthcare technology company based in Menlo Park, CA, Dr. Gong is transforming his research into clinical products that help both clinicians and patients. So far he has led the team obtaining 3 FDA clearance for their AI products that are in clinical usage at ~100 clinical sites in the US, China, EU and around the world. Subtle Medical has won the NVIDIA AI award in 2018, MIT AI Idol award in 2019, CB Insight top AI-100 and Top 150 digital health company in 2020. Subtle Medical’s AI products help busy hospitals and imaging centers to increase their capacity to serve more patients better, which is increasingly critical due to the pandemics. Lei Song is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Pennsylvania State University. In 2015, he graduated with a Ph.D. from Drexel University and won an Excellence in Research Award from Drexel in the same year. He is a founding editorial review board member of an interdisciplinary journal \u2013 Journal of Inter-Organizational Relationships<\/em>, an editorial review board member of the internationally-renowned Journal of Marketing Channels<\/em>, a reviewer for a top-tier marketing journal \u2013 Journal of Consumer Research<\/em>, and the Track Chair of \u201cOnline Retailing\u201d for the 2020 Global Marketing Conference. His research integrates artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and behavioral science to create innovative social media and e-commerce strategies that are significantly important for improving customer satisfaction and corporate competitiveness. Hanrou(Hannah)Li, Award-winning Chinese illustrator based in Manhattan, NY. The jury of 2021 Japan Illustrator\u2019s Association International Illustration Competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019 and received a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration. Her client includes The New York Times, Washington Post, Harper\u2019s Bazaar and many more. She is represented by The Bright Agency-one of the leading illustration agencies in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Li\u2019s work was recognized by The Red Dot Award, Award of Excellence of Communication Arts Award, Grand Prix of Japan Illustrator\u2019s Association, and so on. Weiqi has always been proud of being a Chinese, and he is an excellent scientific researcher, evidenced by his academic background in Oxford and Stanford. He also has great passion in youth-related matters and strong sense of responsibilities. Weiqi has a special identity besides being a scientist \u2013 he is one of the very few Chinese authors who wrote fantasy books for youth in English, and his fantasy series has been well received in the USA.<\/strong> His work, Code of Rainbow, is a fantasy series for youth that brings magic story together with sci-fi. Besides, the work is also intent to help young readers establish their sense of responsibilities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Yang Liang received bachelor, master and doctorate degrees from West China School of Stomatology, Boston University, and Columbia University, Founded and operated “The Smile Institute” dental clinic group. At present, it has operated dental clinics in Boston and New York. It is the first one-stop dental service group in the United States that serves both native Americans and Chinese and international students in the United States.<\/p>\n

Dr. Zhijie Dong is a currently tenure-track assistant professor of Industrial Engineering at Texas State University. She received her Ph.D. degree from Cornell University, M.S. degree from Columbia University, and B.S. degree from Nanjing University. Dr. Dong\u2019s current research focus is on applying and inventing data and computational science methods (e.g., machine learning and optimization) to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and equity of disaster response and crisis management. She has received funding over $1 million from different agencies, including National Science Foundation (NSF), and Federal Highway Administration, and Texas Department of Transportation. Dr. Dong work has been recognized by international and national awards, including several Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) annual conference best paper awards. She won NSF Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Research Initiation Initiative (CRII) Award (known as mini-CAREER), and has been selected as the NSF Operations and Systems Engineering Extreme Events Research (OSEEER) Early Career Mentoring (ECM) Program Fellow. In addition, Dr. Dong recently won the Honorable Mention of INFORMS MIF Early Career Award, and received the invitation by Harvard Business School to present her work regarding social media information sharing for natural disaster response at their 1st workshop of Data Science Challenges in Management and Decision Sciences, as one of the 30 selected junior scholars. Dr. Dong was the president of Cornell Chinese Students and Scholars Association (2013-2014), and is now the faculty advisor of Texas State Chinese Students and Scholars Association. Last year, as the founding faculty advisor she helped established the Alpha Sigma Rho Sorority Texas State chapter, with a primary focus geared towards helping those in the Asian-American community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Crysti was born in Yunnan, China and raised in between China and the US.
