{"id":35208,"date":"2021-05-14T13:05:25","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T20:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=35208"},"modified":"2021-05-16T13:21:49","modified_gmt":"2021-05-16T20:21:49","slug":"12-worldwide-artists-push-against-asian-hate-with-nyc-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=35208","title":{"rendered":"12 Worldwide artists \u2018Push\u2019 against Asian hate with NYC exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This May, The Push art group proudly presents The Push exhibition at The High Line Nine Gallery reflecting on anti-AAPI violence in the USA; set to feature New York\u2019s largest and most diverse group of artists since the surge in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>With 12 artists from America, Canada, China, Japan and more, The Push curated artists from different cultural and professional backgrounds with aims to embrace the lives and stories of AAPI groups with diverse perspectives and restore respect through understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Our artists range from New York Academy of Art faculty member and fine-liner Guno Park, to Julie Benbassat: an award winning illustrator who has had work featured on NPR, The New York Times and more.<\/p>\n<p>Expect to see different mediums &#8211; from Jim Xu\u2019s realistic drawing of Noel Quintana, a hate crime victim who got slashed across his face, to more interpretive relief sculptures by Jiannan Wu celebrating Chinese \u201cCountry love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Push exhibition will happen throughout AAPI heritage month starting from May 20 &#8211; June 3 from 12pm &#8211; 6pm The Highline Nine gallery \u2013\u2013 located at 508 W 28th Street, New York. The May 20th opening will start at 7pm, with an exclusive live performance by featured Asian musicians.
