President Biden\u2019s chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci said it is unclear when a booster shot will be needed for the coronavirus vaccine \u2014 but that it will probably be needed at some point.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t anticipate that the durability of the vaccine protection is going to be infinite \u2014 it\u2019s just not,\u201d Fauci\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing. \u201cSo I imagine we will need, at some time, a booster. What we\u2019re figuring out right now is what that interval is going to be.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe know from studies following people from the original clinical trials that the protection goes out at least six months and likely a year,\u201d he added. \u201cI believe we will need a booster. I\u2019m not exactly sure when.\u201d<\/p>\n What he previously said:\u00a0<\/strong>Earlier this month, Fauci\u00a0told Axios<\/a>: “I think we will almost certainly require a booster sometime within a year or so after getting the primary [shot], because the durability of protection against coronaviruses is generally not lifelong.\u201d<\/p>\n
