The Washington Post got its hands on some of Anthony Fauci\u2019s early pandemic emails through a Freedom of Information Act request.<\/p>\n

Fauci\u00a0said the emails obtained by the Post reflected \u201cmixed messages that were coming out of the White House\u201d from a host of people who flooded his inbox in the early months of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The Post\u00a0obtained 866 pages of Fauci\u2019s emails<\/a>, from March and April 2020, during the first two hectic months after the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic and global restrictions on public gatherings shut down much of the world.<\/p>\n

Fauci said he was \u201cgetting every single kind of question\u201d at the time because people were confused about the \u201cmixed messages\u201d coming out of the White House and wanted to know \u201cthe real scoop.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was getting every single kind of question, mostly people who were a little bit confused about the mixed messages that were coming out of the White House and wanted to know what\u2019s the real scoop,\u201d Fauci told the Post in an interview about the emails the newspaper obtained.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a reputation that I respond to people when they ask for help, even if it takes a long time. And it\u2019s very time consuming, but I do,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The correspondence opens a new window into what it was like for the nation\u2019s top infectious diseases expert to navigate some of the most panic-stricken early weeks of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

But<\/strong>: The Post notes that the emails do not show Fauci directly criticizing former\u00a0President Trump\u00a0and instead staying in close contact with White House officials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
