9 New Deaths and 228 New Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in Los Angeles County<\/em><\/h3>\n

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) has confirmed 9 new deaths and 228 new cases of COVID-19.\u00a0 Of the nine new deaths reported today, one person that passed away was over the age of 80, five people who died were between the ages of 65 and 79, two people who died were between the ages of 50 and 64, and one person who died was between the ages of 30 and 49.<\/p>\n

To date, Public Health identified 1,244,459 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 24,364 deaths.\u00a0 There are 244 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 17% of these people are in the ICU. Testing results are available for nearly 6,785,000 individuals with 17% of people testing positive. Today’s daily test positivity rate is 0.5%.<\/p>\n

As vaccine demand has shifted and the County has significantly increased the number of sites served by mobile teams, Public Health will transition our four large capacity vaccination sites to smaller community sites. We remain committed on getting vaccine into neighborhoods where we can continue to reach people who may have limited ability or time to get to large vaccination sites.<\/p>\n

On June 7, the County will close the California State University Northridge vaccination site and transition to providing vaccinations to nearby residents at the Balboa Sports Complex.\u00a0Residents that received their first dose at California State University Northridge, have appointments for their second dose at Balboa Sports Complex which is located nearby. Public Health is assisting residents that need transportation with a free ride there and back. \u00a0If you need a ride, you can reach out to the Public Health call center at 1-833-540-0473 and you will be assisted with free transportation services.<\/p>\n

After Sunday, June 13, the County will transition the other three large capacity vaccination sites located at The Forum, Pomona Fairplex, and L.A County Office of Education to nearby community sites.\u00a0 Beginning on Tuesday, June 15,<\/strong>\u00a0residents can go to the following community vaccination sites:<\/p>\n
