El Dorado Park, CA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 On Saturday, June 19th the committee\u00a0Stop the Madness: Support Recalling District Attorney Gascon Now<\/a>\u00a0(Recall Gascon Now<\/a><\/em>) in conjunction with Asian Industry B2B and Blexit held a rally in El Dorado Park attended by an array of community members as diverse as Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n

Attendees heard about a dozen different speakers crossing ethnic and partisan lines share why Gascon needs to be recalled. The reasons ranged from not doing the job of the District Attorney to prosecute crime, to crime survivors and victims not receiving justice for crimes committed against loved ones, to the grave threat to public safety that Gascon\u2019s perilous policies pose, especially to persons of color in the communities, which as a result of Gascon\u2019s directives, are having criminals released back into their neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

John McKinney (right) from \u201cProportional Justice.com\u201d asserted that public safety depends on having, \u201cSafe homes, safe schools, and safe neighborhoods,\u201d and added that \u201cletting dangerous people back into Black and Brown neighborhoods do not make the neighborhoods safe places.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bishop Mendez (left) from Churches in Action went further to affirm the commitment of the churches in his organization to work to collect signatures for the recall of Gascon, whom he described as being, \u201cVery harmful to the community\u201d and went on to say that, \u201ceverything he is doing is against the community; this man does not stand for what is righteous, he stands for what is evil and wicked.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

What was not a reason for why Gascon should be recalled was his political party identification or the results of the November 2020 election. This recall stemmed directly from the dangerous directives issued by Gascon on his first day in office – directives going contrary to law and the will of the voters in the very same election in which Gascon was elected.<\/p>\n

Recall supporters have until October 27th to collect nearly 580,000 qualified signatures necessary to place Gascon\u2019s recall on to the ballot and in the first month since the petition has been approved have already collected tens of thousands of signatures. Beginning in early July,\u00a0Recall Gascon Now<\/a><\/em>\u00a0will start targeted door-to-door signature gathering, beginning in cities whose city councils have voted \u201cNo Confidence\u201d in Gascon. The first city scheduled for the launch of that effort is Santa Clarita.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
