MONTEREY PARK, CA\u00a0\u2013 On Saturday, June 26, 2021, over two hundred East Los Angeles College (ELAC) students and families attended the ELAC 2021 Scholarship drive-through celebration, where they were given a certificate of recognition and a gift. This was a follow-up to the Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Annual 2020-21 Virtual Scholarship Ceremony, where 278 scholars were awarded $249,950 in scholarships.<\/div>\n

The 2021 ceremony marked the\u00a0largest in both dollar amounts and the number of recipients in the history of ELAC.\u00a0The amounts were $206,150 awarded from the Foundation, $30,000 from the Associated Student Union (ASU), and $13,800 from the Academic Senate. The Scholarships included the newly established Jose Blas Sanchez Gonzalez Scholarship Memorial Fund, Richard and Cynthia Leza Hispanic Scholarship Endowment, Juan Martinez Outstanding Service Scholarship, and Vince Carlos Moretti GRIT Scholarship.
