{"id":37870,"date":"2021-07-20T15:53:59","date_gmt":"2021-07-20T22:53:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=37870"},"modified":"2021-07-20T18:54:22","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T01:54:22","slug":"new-york-reaches-1-1b-settlement-with-opioid-distributors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=37870","title":{"rendered":"New York reaches $1.1B settlement with opioid distributors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state of New York has reached a $1.1 billion\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/xbvsknglcddtynydtprcctsscgtqdgdmmbclnjqdvhjsbp_vrffhhpvpnfgvgmvrhry.html?a=&amp;b=40861\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/xbvsknglcddtynydtprcctsscgtqdgdmmbclnjqdvhjsbp_vrffhhpvpnfgvgmvrhry.html?a%3D%26b%3D40861&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1626906994420000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHAKUTz2ojVxZ7YgpADDqanPTZthQ\">settlement agreement<\/a>\u00a0with three of the nation\u2019s largest drug distributors after the state accused the companies of contributing to the opioid crisis.<\/p>\n<p>New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) released the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/tcljsdwfpllktdtlkbvppkjjpwkrlwlggcpfdmrlzhmjcv_vrffhhpvpnfgvgmvrhry.html?a=&amp;b=40861\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/tcljsdwfpllktdtlkbvppkjjpwkrlwlggcpfdmrlzhmjcv_vrffhhpvpnfgvgmvrhry.html?a%3D%26b%3D40861&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1626906994420000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGHvZJvaMYaOwcK45qYOE9OzDYfGA\">settlement<\/a>\u00a0obtained with the McKesson Corporation, Cardinal Health Inc. and AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation on Tuesday, saying the state is holding the distributors \u201caccountable\u201d for their alleged role in the epidemic.<\/p>\n<p>The three distributors will pay the $1.1 billion to New York state, with more than $1 billion of that being designated to opioid treatment, recovery and prevention.
