{"id":37876,"date":"2021-07-20T16:56:34","date_gmt":"2021-07-20T23:56:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=37876"},"modified":"2021-07-20T18:56:58","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T01:56:58","slug":"duckworth-pressley-introduce-bill-to-provide-paid-family-leave-for-those-who-experience-miscarriage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=37876","title":{"rendered":"Duckworth, Pressley introduce bill to provide paid family leave for those who experience miscarriage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.\u00a0Tammy Duckworth\u00a0(D-Ill.) and Rep.\u00a0Ayanna Pressley\u00a0(D-Mass.) introduced a bill on Tuesday that calls for employers to provide at least three days of paid leave for workers who experience a miscarriage.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/dhrszlgkjttfblbtfrcjjfssjgfwtgtnnmjkldwtphdsdt_vrffhhpvpnfgvgmvrhry.html?a=&amp;b=40861\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/dhrszlgkjttfblbtfrcjjfssjgfwtgtnnmjkldwtphdsdt_vrffhhpvpnfgvgmvrhry.html?a%3D%26b%3D40861&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1626906994420000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEf_smH1-XkF7FtpZjhOvleAI2L7A\">bill<\/a>, dubbed the Support Through Loss Act, aims to invest $45 million a year to the National Institutes of Health for federal research into miscarriages and pregnancy loss.<\/p>\n<p>It would also require that the Department of Health and Human Services, including the CDC, develop and spread public information regarding pregnancy loss, such as statistics on the matter and treatment options.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/kmmfwbtkplljzbzljrvppjffptjqltlggspkbdqlhmdfdh_vrffhhpvpnfgvgmvrhry.html?a=&amp;b=40861\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/kmmfwbtkplljzbzljrvppjffptjqltlggspkbdqlhmdfdh_vrffhhpvpnfgvgmvrhry.html?a%3D%26b%3D40861&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1626906994420000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE0zGRGlz2QzI7a4sUz71HRKyee9A\">CDC<\/a>, about one in 100 pregnancies at 20 weeks of carrying and later are affected by stillbirth.
