{"id":38402,"date":"2021-08-04T13:51:25","date_gmt":"2021-08-04T20:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=38402"},"modified":"2021-08-04T17:52:10","modified_gmt":"2021-08-05T00:52:10","slug":"majority-of-unvaccinated-incorrectly-believe-vaccine-poses-bigger-risk-than-covid-19-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=38402","title":{"rendered":"Majority of unvaccinated incorrectly believe vaccine poses bigger risk than COVID-19: poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A slight majority of unvaccinated adults in the U.S. said they believe the vaccine poses a bigger risk to their health than COVID-19, according to a new poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation that comes amid an ongoing battle against coronavirus misinformation.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/mtcsmzwgpccljzjcltnpplsspwlvcwckkdpgzbvcqnwswd_ymmskkqlqnsglcsskqqm.html?a=&amp;b=41244\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/mtcsmzwgpccljzjcltnpplsspwlvcwckkdpgzbvcqnwswd_ymmskkqlqnsglcsskqqm.html?a%3D%26b%3D41244&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1628201808459000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFlmRG2oQQwLoKKSBlzidkvkRLC8A\">KFF COVID-19 Vaccine Monitor<\/a>\u00a0released Wednesday found that 53 percent of unvaccinated respondents think getting the vaccine is a bigger risk to their health than the virus itself. Seventy-five percent of people who said they would \u201cdefinitely not\u201d get the shot think the COVID-19 vaccine is a bigger risk.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, 88 percent of vaccinated respondents said the virus poses a greater threat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What this means:\u00a0<\/strong>The poll results underscore the stark differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated people\u2019s viewpoints on COVID-19 and the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>Vaccinated respondents were much more likely to be concerned about variants disrupting the U.S. recovery, with 74 percent saying they&#8217;re worried about the country, compared to 39 percent of the unvaccinated who said the same.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Glimmer of hope:\u00a0<\/strong>About a quarter of unvaccinated adults, amounting to 8 percent of all adults, said they expected to get vaccinated by the end of the year.
