{"id":38769,"date":"2021-08-13T21:00:11","date_gmt":"2021-08-14T04:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=38769"},"modified":"2021-08-13T22:00:42","modified_gmt":"2021-08-14T05:00:42","slug":"senators-want-answers-about-amazons-biometric-data-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=38769","title":{"rendered":"Senators want answers about Amazon&#8217;s biometric data collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A bipartisan group of senators sent a letter to Amazon Friday raising questions about its collection of biometric data.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers are particularly interested in the expansion of the company\u2019s palm print scanners program, Amazon One.<\/p>\n<p>The scanners are used at Amazon stores to let customers pay without having to take out cards or cash if they enroll in the program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecent reports indicate that Amazon is incentivizing consumers to share their biometric information with Amazon One by offering a $10 promotional credit for Amazon.com products,\u201d Sens.
