{"id":40444,"date":"2021-09-24T15:56:45","date_gmt":"2021-09-24T22:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=40444"},"modified":"2021-09-24T15:56:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-24T22:56:45","slug":"who-recommends-antibody-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=40444","title":{"rendered":"WHO RECOMMENDS ANTIBODY TREATMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The World Health Organization (WHO) updated its COVID-19 treatment guidelines to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/bpzbvsdkzppynsnpyjgzzybbzdympdpttqzkscmplzgffp_cqltccpdpftlpdcddjtj.html?a=&amp;b=42693\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/bpzbvsdkzppynsnpyjgzzybbzdympdpttqzkscmplzgffp_cqltccpdpftlpdcddjtj.html?a%3D%26b%3D42693&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1632609368708000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGzNxrWlo-yo30RPWtoYQt3EpmmIg\">add<\/a>\u00a0the antibody cocktail made by Regeneron.<\/p>\n<p>The recommendation, issued on Friday and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/phddwrftvhhbgrghbymvvbddvfbkhfhsslvtrckhqvmjjq_cqltccpdpftlpdcddjtj.html?a=&amp;b=42693\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/click1.email.thehill.com\/phddwrftvhhbgrghbymvvbddvfbkhfhsslvtrckhqvmjjq_cqltccpdpftlpdcddjtj.html?a%3D%26b%3D42693&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1632609368708000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF5W9Tl_v-3JBX1iMgoyq6jVmBkQg\">based off of experimental trials<\/a>, encourages the two antibodies produced by Regeneron \u2014 casirivimab and imdevimab \u2014 be used on COVID-19 patients \u201cwho are non-severe and at higher risk for hospitalization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is the first drug against COVID-19 the WHO has recommended for use in non-severe high-risk patients to reduce the chances of the disease progressing.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the treatment\u2019s high cost and limited availability, the WHO is negotiating with companies and urged Regeneron to lower the price.
