DACC was awarded a Commissioners’ Legacy Award for showing a commitment to program quality and productivity excellence. DACC was acknowledged for an impactful Managed Intake and Enhanced Placement program for animals. This program allowed DACC to rapidly implement a new animal management practice to respond to and enhance services during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

“We are extremely honored to receive this prestigious award from the QPC,” said DACC Director Marcia Mayeda. “Our Managed Intake and Enhanced Placement programs, including our highly successful Love at First Sight adoption program, have reduced euthanasia, enabled pets to stay in the homes where they are loved and wanted, and provided exciting new adoption opportunities for pets and their new families. We are deeply grateful to the QPC for recognizing our accomplishments”.

Managed Intake is an approach towards animal sheltering that leverages community engagement and resources to achieve the best outcomes for stray and owned pets in our communities. Managed Intake aligns DACC practices and resources with the needs of the community to reduce the necessity of accepting animals into the seven DACC animal care centers. The Enhanced Placement initiatives increase positive outcomes for stray and owner-surrendered animals by increasing adoptions, providing additional foster homes, and partnership with private animal adoption organizations.

“This award is particularly significant because while the other awards are selected by the QPC managers’ network, this award is bestowed by the commissioners themselves. It is truly a special honor,” said Mayeda.

DACC also received a national award from the National Association of Counties, and a state award from the California State Association of Counties for these programs.

For more information, please check out https://animalcare.lacounty.gov/awards-grants-and-recognition/ .

[6

post-41259","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ca-local
["GET
