Los Angeles, November, 17, 2021 – Chinese distributor CMC Pictures is set to release the war epic in the U.S. and Canada on Nov. 19.<\/p>\n

The film is currently the highest-grossing title in the world and in China so far in 2021, having earned $881 million in its home market alone \u2014 good news for the movie billed as China\u2019s most expensive production of all time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Battle at Lake Changjin\u201d is co-directed by three leading, acclaimed directors: Chen Kaige (\u201cFarewell My Concubine\u201d), Tsui Hark (\u201cOnce Upon a Time in China\u201d) and Dante Lam (\u201cOperation Red Sea.\u201d).<\/p>\n

The film is backed by Bona Film Group, August First Film Studio, Huaxia Film Distribution, China Film, Shanghai Film Group, Alibaba Pictures, and Beijing Dengfeng International Media.<\/p>\n

Its cast is led by Jackson Yee, the star of Oscar-nominated Hong Kong youth drama \u201cBetter Days,\u201d as well as Wu Jing, best known for his star turn in \u201cWolf Warrior 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

“The Battle at Lake Changjin” is the highest-grossing film worldwide so far this year, having grossed a massive 5.668 billion yuan (886 million U.S. dollars) in the Chinese mainland alone since Sept. 30, according to the box office data compiled by Maoyan, a Chinese movie-ticketing and film data platform.<\/p>\n

It’s also the second-highest-grossing title of all time at China’s box office, trailing only the 2017 Chinese action film “Wolf Warrior 2,” which earned 5.69 billion yuan (890 million dollars). Enditem<\/p>\n
