Mayor Eric Garcetti\u2019s imminent resignation leaves the City of Angels in desperate straits for nearly a year. Mel Wilson will fill that void in leadership and become the mayor that the city needs during these troubled times with visionary ideas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Covid-19 pandemic is raging, homelessness is out of control, home prices continue to rise as do rental costs, violent crimes are on the rise and climate fluctuations are out of control. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Wilson will move quickly from Day 1 on solving these problems that are plaguing Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When asked why he is running for mayor of Los Angeles, Wilson stated: \u201cI am a servant leader and a person of strong faith who has the experience to solve complex problems in times of crisis. Hope is on the way. \u00a0I believe that by working and praying together, God will be on our side. Mel has served as a gifted manager, leader in the Chamber of Commerce and the housing advocate for the Southland Regional Association of Realtors, a regional housing advocacy trade group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Millions of Angelenos have benefited because of Mel Wilson\u2019s faithful work.\u00a0 On the Metro Board, Wilson showed his concern for climate change by pushing the Metro Board to eliminate the use of diesel fuel\u2014which is known to cause cancer\u2014and convert the fleet of vehicles to utilize low emission fuels. Mel Wilson led the charge to gain approval for the LAX Crenshaw Line, he fought for funding for the Leimert Park Station and championed the voice of San Fernando Valley residents by fighting for the North San Fernando Valley Light Rail Project, the San Fernando Valley\u2019s only rail project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mel Wilson has a track record of using his voice and position to positively impact the communities in which he has been honored to serve. Wilson is a two-time member of the Metro Board and served with the five L.A. County Board of Supervisors. Mel Wilson was instrumental in numerous key projects in Los Angeles including the construction of the Metro Red, Gold, Green, Expo Lines, widening Interstate 405 Freeway and rebuilding Interstate 10 and Hwy 14 in the aftermath of the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. As a L.A.
