Blinken, Secretary of State<\/p>\n<p>The People\u2019s Republic of China\u2019s (PRC) sanctions last month on\u00a0four\u00a0U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) commissioners, including\u00a0Chair Nadine Maenza, Vice Chair Nury Turkel, and Commissioners Anurima Bhargava and James W. Carr,\u00a0constitute yet another PRC affront against universal rights.\u00a0 The PRC has previously sanctioned three other current or former USCIRF commissioners, in addition to dozens of current or former U.S. officials and organizations promoting democracy and respect for human rights around the world \u2013 all of which are without merit.\u00a0 We remain undeterred by these actions, and we stand in solidarity with USCIRF and its staff.\u00a0 The United States is committed to defending human rights around the world and will continue to use all diplomatic and economic tools to promote accountability.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing\u2019s continued attempts to intimidate and silence those speaking out for human rights only contribute to the growing international scrutiny of the ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang.\u00a0 The United States again calls on the PRC to cease its acts of transnational repression, including coercive practices of imprisoning and denying freedom of movement to family members of Uyghur American activists, including individuals serving the American people.\u00a0 These acts undermine the international rules-based order.<\/p>\n<p>We support and stand with those who speak out on behalf of human rights and fundamental freedoms, including freedom of religion or belief.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>01\/10\/2022 02:04 PM EST &nbsp; Antony&#46;&#46;&#46;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7,5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-43669","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-u-s-a","category-world"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/43669","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=43669"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/43669\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":43670,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/43669\/revisions\/43670"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=43669"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=43669"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=43669"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
