SECRETARY BLINKEN:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Well, greetings, everyone.\u00a0 I\u2019m particularly pleased to be here with friends and colleagues from the Congress. \u00a0This is, as always, very powerful to see a bipartisan group of leaders from Congress standing together, coming together in support of Ukraine, and standing strongly against Vladimir Putin\u2019s war of choice and aggression that is not only \u2013 is first and foremost affecting the people of Ukraine, but poses a threat to the basic principles of the international order that all of us stand strongly for. \u00a0And we \u2013 I think we\u2019re determined \u2013 as Republicans, as Democrats, as Americans \u2013 not to let this go with impunity.<\/p>\n

So I think the fact that our colleagues are here with this strong show of support from the United States here in this moment at this time is a very powerful thing, and it\u2019s just wonderful to be with you.<\/p>\n

CHAIRMAN MEEKS:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Thank you.<\/p>\n

CHAIRMAN MEEKS:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>As you said, bipartisan group \u2013 many more members of Congress wanted to come.\u00a0 We completely filled our plane, because we wanted to make sure that \u2013 number one, we wanted to say thank you to the Polish people.\u00a0 The humanitarian concerns that they have had wreaked on them \u2013 now they\u2019re able to help someone else. \u00a0And I thought, we all thought that it was extremely important for members of the Congress, in a bipartisan way, to come to say thank you and that we know \u2013 for those that had to leave their homes in Ukraine because of one man who decided that he\u2019s going to make and commit war crimes, killing innocent men, women and children \u2013 that we wanted to also let them know that the United States has their back. \u00a0And we\u2019re going to stay together.<\/p>\n

So we\u2019re definitely going to make sure that the \u2013 our NATO Ally here in Poland, we have your back. \u00a0We\u2019re not going to leave you alone, and it\u2019s a message united. \u00a0Mike McCaul is the ranking member \u2013 I\u2019m the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee; he\u2019s the ranking member.\u00a0 Mike, why don\u2019t you say something?<\/p>\n

RANKING MEMBER MCCAUL:\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Well, (inaudible) we\u2019re not here as Republicans or Democrats, but really as Americans supporting our NATO Ally, Poland, and the people of Ukraine. \u00a0We stand with you. \u00a0We just had a video conference with President Zelenskyy, one of the most courageous individuals I\u2019ve ever seen. \u00a0Very inspiring. \u00a0And the chairman\u2019s right:\u00a0 Mr. Putin is a war criminal, he\u2019s going to lose in the end, and we want to work with you and the administration to bring this to a \u2013 bring him to justice and stop the bloodshed. \u00a0And again, I just want to thank Poland and the people of Ukraine.\u00a0 We are with you, and we will do everything we can to stop this.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
