Nichols, attended a senior-level international partners meeting on Haiti on April 21.\u00a0 Hosted by France, this meeting convened international partner countries and international organizations for the third time in the past four months in support of progress on the challenges facing Haiti. \u00a0Participants encouraged political accord among Haitian actors so elections can take place as soon as conditions permit.<\/p>\n<p>On April 1, the United States announced\u00a0it would partner with\u00a0Haiti through\u00a0the U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability, which complements our existing programming in Haiti.\u00a0\u00a0As the international community encourages Haitian political actors, civil society, and other stakeholders to find consensus and reach a political accord, this is an opportune time for coordinating future support for security, good governance, democratic institutions, and elections.<\/p>\n<p>This meeting also reaffirms our efforts in providing advisory support, training, and other resources to the Haitian National Police (HNP).\u00a0 In addition to deploying additional trainers and refurbishing HNP training facilities, the United States has delivered 60 new vehicles to the HNP.\u00a0 The United States is working with HNP leadership to develop an elite unit capable of high-impact arrests and anti-gang operations, as well as expand its community policing efforts to regain the trust of citizens in gang-affected neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p>We commend our partners who have also contributed to building the operational capacity of the HNP.\u00a0 We continue to work with international partners and organizations to support Haiti\u2019s response to complex security challenges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>04\/21\/2022 03:25 PM EDT &nbsp; Office&#46;&#46;&#46;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7,5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-47551","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-u-s-a","category-world"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/47551","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=47551"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/47551\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":47552,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/47551\/revisions\/47552"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=47551"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=47551"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=47551"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
