The grand opening and ensuing community tour featured the library’s newly expanded children’s area, an outdoor reading garden, a new community meeting with a state-of-the-art audio visual system, and a unique ceiling glass art installation titled “Let the Adventure Unfold”, designed by local artist Louise Griffin.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who contributed funding to this renovation project, kicked-off the grand opening ceremony. “Temple City Library is a place where generations of community members have come to read, study, relax and unwind,” said Supervisor Barger. “I’m a proud supporter of its expansion because it’s an investment in the well-being of the surrounding community. It took determination and tenacity to make the Temple City Library expansion happen. We could not have done so without the collaboration of the City Council, including Mayor Cynthia Sternquist, Mayor Pro Tem William Man, and Councilmembers Vincent Yu, Fernando Vizcarra, and Tom Chavez. I’m honored to have been part of the partnership that made the renovation a reality.”

Temple City Mayor Cynthia Sternquist spoke about her love of reading and personal connection with the library. She shared, “My grandfather rewarded me with a book for good behavior as a child…and with that came a love of reading. I’ve worked hard as an educator and now as a municipal leader to cultivate an appreciation for reading. This library offers a beautiful reading space and experience to everyone who steps inside.”

Skye Patrick, Director of the LA County Library, shared her perspective on the library’s design and reflection of the community’s needs. “The team that worked on renovating Temple City Library dug into understanding what the library’s clients and surrounding community members wanted and needed to enhance their experience. As a result, our renovated library has an enhanced capacity and space to serve children, support teenagers, offer digital learning tools and enclosed study rooms. It’s certain to become an anchor of community activity for many years to come.”

[6,17

post-49237","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ca-local","category-education
["GET
