Free Lunches for Kids in Teens available in South Whittier, Huntington Park, South Gate, Lynwood, and Norwalk<\/em><\/h4>\n

Los Angeles, CA\u2014Today, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn is promoting \u201cLunch at the Library\u201d after the County\u00a0accepted $56,250 grant<\/a>\u00a0from the California State Library to continue the free lunch program this summer. \u00a0The program provides free sack lunches for children and teens that can be picked up at participating Los Angeles County Libraries, including six libraries in Supervisor Hahn\u2019s district.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Lunch at the Library program is one of the many ways our LA County Libraries have stepped up to meet the needs of their communities,\u201d said Supervisor Janice Hahn. \u201cThis grant allows us to keep this program going this summer and I urge families with kids and teens to take advantage of it. \u00a0Stop by one of the six participating libraries to pick up a free lunch, and a good book while you are at it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lunch at the Library program offers free lunch for kids and teens 18 and under. Meals are available on a first come, first served basis at select libraries from 12 \u2013 1 pm, either Mon \u2013 Fri or Tue \u2013 Fri, depending on the location (see schedule below). There are no restrictions on family income. Parents & caregivers can pick up on behalf of children; kids and teens don\u2019t need to be present but are welcome!<\/p>\n

Since 2015, LA County Library has been offering free, nutritious lunches. Lunch at the Library keeps children nourished during the summer months, helping to ensure that they return to school in the fall ready to learn. Lunch at the Library is a project of the California State Library in partnership with the California Library Association and supported with funds from the State of California.<\/p>\n
