{"id":50432,"date":"2022-07-08T13:26:28","date_gmt":"2022-07-08T20:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=50432"},"modified":"2022-07-15T13:26:59","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T20:26:59","slug":"port-of-los-angeles-releases-notice-of-preparation-initial-study-for-improvements-to-vopak-liquid-bulk-cement-terminal-in-wilmington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=50432","title":{"rendered":"PORT OF LOS ANGELES RELEASES NOTICE OF PREPARATION, INITIAL STUDY FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO VOPAK LIQUID BULK, CEMENT TERMINAL IN WILMINGTON"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><big><strong>SAN PEDRO, Calif. \u2013 July 7, 2022 \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>The Port of Los Angeles has released a Notice of Preparation\/Initial Study (NOP\/IS) of a Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Berths 187-191 [Vopak] Liquid Bulk Terminal Wharf Improvements and Cement Terminal Project, located in Wilmington.<\/big><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><big>The proposed project includes improvements to the existing liquid bulk terminal wharves located at Berths 187-190 to comply with Marine Oil Terminal Engineering and Maintenance Standards (MOTEMS) and repairs and structural upgrades to the Berth 191 wharf to support the resumption of maritime cement operations. The proposed project also includes issuance of a new 30-year entitlement to Vopak for continued operation of its two primary locations and associated pipelines at Berths 187-190 and the Berth 191 cement import terminal.<\/big><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><big>The NOP\/IS is available for review on the Port of Los Angeles website at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.portoflosangeles.org\/environment\/environmental-documents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">portoflosangeles.org\/ceqa<\/a>. The IS\/NOP is intended to solicit feedback, which helps to identify any potential environmental impacts and suggest possible alternatives for the project that can be incorporated into the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR).<\/big><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><big>The Port will hold a virtual scoping meeting via Zoom to receive comments on the NOP\/IS\u00a0on Wednesday, July 20 at 5 p.m. No registration is required. Simultaneous Spanish translation services will be provided.
