{"id":50759,"date":"2022-07-25T16:39:37","date_gmt":"2022-07-25T23:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=50759"},"modified":"2022-07-26T10:40:21","modified_gmt":"2022-07-26T17:40:21","slug":"gop-plots-fauci-probe-after-midterms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=50759","title":{"rendered":"GOP plots Fauci probe after midterms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congressional Republicans are\u00a0eagerly floating investigations into\u00a0Anthony Fauci\u00a0and the Biden administration\u2019s response to the coronavirus pandemic\u00a0if they win back control of the House or Senate in the midterm elections.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cOne way or another, if we are in the majority, we will subpoena his records and he will testify in the Senate under oath,\u201d said Sen.\u00a0Rand Paul\u00a0(R-Ky.), who is in line to become the chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee if Republicans win the majority\u00a0with the panel\u2019s current ranking member,\u00a0Sen.\u00a0Richard Burr\u00a0(R-N.C.), retiring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Republicans have not been shy about launching probes into the U.S. response to the coronavirus pandemic, focusing on the origins of the virus and whether the federal government \u2014 and by extension, Fauci \u2014 helped fund controversial research that might have played a role\u00a0in its creation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While Republicans have been in the minority, those investigations have not gained much momentum.
